What customers say?

“ The food is very much on the ‘light’ side but absolutely delicious the gazpacho and cinnamon toast were the highlights as was the excellent wine list. The rose was delicious and I would definitely come back. It’s a bit cavernous as a space but a beautiful room. I noticed many of the negative reviews are actually for the downstairs cafe, it’s a shame people can’t differentiate between the locations! ”

“ This a restaurant located on the first floor of the Royal Academy of Arts - facing Burlington Gardens. The interior of the restaurant is very beautiful and the staff friendly. I had lunch with 2 friends and we shared a salad, a charcuterie board, two tapas (prawns and octopus) and a dessert. We also had a glass of wine and a coffee each. We paid about £50 pp. ”

“ I love José Pizarro’s food and I also love that he has a footprint at the Royal Academy of Art. So, having viewed the Summer Exhibition it seemed only right and proper check out his restaurant in the beautiful Senate Room. The food is elevated tapas-style and the menu is quite ‘meat light’ but none the worse for it. I was dining with a vegetarian so, all was well. There are some Pizarro crowd-pleasers such the tortilla with a soft, oozing centre (still the best in London) and the panne con tomate - fresh and punchy tomato flavours - accompanied by a delicious tomato with gazpacho-style dressed salad. I can’t remember the whole menu because I was too engrossed with my guest so, my advice is go for the art and stay for the food. You won’t be disappointed. ”

“ Had some Top class Tapas here at one of Londons plushists dining rooms. I can honestly say that every dish we ordered was outstanding. Service was quick and efficient, like being in an old Andalusian Taberna, the plates just kept rolling out the kitchen one after the other, the stand-out dishes though were the Huevos a la flamenca(Aubergine & pepper stew), and the Buñuelos de gamba(Prawn fritters). Will be back, no doubt, to try the rest of this flavour packed, quality menu in the very near future.. ”

“ Newly reopened José Pizarro restaurant at the royal academy. A delightfully refurbished room off the garden with interesting friezes around the walls. A cool sophisticated dining room and more collegiate meeting and eating room next door. The truncated menu for their soft launch looks really interesting, with Spanish favourites plus dishes I had never eaten. Chickpeas and salbrasada, a type of spicy Mallorcan sausage. All managed by the expert hands of Mia, the knowledgeable maitre d'. ”

“ Sensational food - easily the best tapas I've had in London. Possibly even better than I've had in Spain. I think there was just one thing on the menu that I didn't want to order...the choice was too good. The potato salad with confit tuna belly was just exceptionally gorgeous, creamy and a real delight. Also I loved the prawn fritters and the aioli they came with. Service was really good too - though they could have thrown the food at me and told me I'm ugly, and I still would have loved it here. ”

“ Amazing authentic food- I am vegetarian but was told the ham was amazing! The tomato bread and lentil salad was also delicious. Decent price for the quality of food and pretty good portion sizes. Also even though it was quite busy the service was rather fast. Will definitely come back here again if given the chance. ”

“ This place oozes charm, elegance and comfort. And by osmosis you are guaranteed to feel charming, elegant, and comfortable yourself. The massive ceilings, the large windows that inundate the room with light, and the beautiful decor create a very pleasing setting… a perfect casing for the treasure discovery that is the food. The spicy prawn fritters, cheese toast with honey, slow cooked Aubergines, and decadent pecan tart, are absolutely succulent, and all very likely to draw a few moans here and there. ”
